I offer my deepest condolence to Tuia’s children and the rest of the family.

(The death of) Tuia is a “great loss” not only to his family, friends and colleagues, but to all of American Samoa. He was gracious, generous, and thoughtful.

He was an extraordinary Samoan Leader who became a trusted colleague and exceptional friend to all of us at the Fono. He was a person and politician of the highest caliber. Through his political life, compassion and commitment were at the core of his politics.

People of American Samoa have suffered a great loss and he will always be remembered for his hard work and his dedication to the American Samoa people.

Our gratitude goes out to Tuia’s family for sharing him with all of us.

To his children and family, I say I salute a really good person who did a first class job in representing politics and an outstanding service to the people of American Samoa.
