(LAS VEGAS, NV) -- Local Las Vegas company, StylePasifika will be hosting an official greeting for the national teams of Samoa, Fiji and New Zealand upon their arrival at McCarran International Airport on Feb. 8, 2010 at 2pm (for Fiji and New Zealand) and 7pm (for Samoa).
StylePasifika in conjunction with several leaders of the Polynesian community in Las Vegas will welcome the visiting athletes by performing a short traditional song and dance of welcome followed by a short welcome address from one of the community leaders. The welcoming ceremony will take place in the baggage claim area of McCarran.
This year will be the first time USA Sevens Rugby Tournament will be held in Las vegas. While the event is officially scheduled to take place in the city for the next five consecutive years, much of it still depends on the success of the Feb. 13-14 tournament.
In an attempt to foster diplomatic relations and set the precendence of Vegas hospitality, StylePasifika will host the event, providing Polynesian dancers dressed in traditional garb as well as Fresh Flower Leis as a gesture of goodwill and good luck. While the athletes will be coming off of long international flights, courtesy dictates that community members respond to this greeting by performing a Haka, a type of war dance.
Founded nearly four years ago, StylePasifika has conducted business in Las Vegas by providing fresh flower leis to various casino institutions around town. StylePasifika has now expanded its operations to include fully licensed collegiate Kukui nut leis featuring insignia from various colleges round the nation and is now one of the largest importers of fresh flower leis to the mainland.
StylePasifika is an official sponsor of the USA Sevens International Rugby Tournament and Fan Festival.
