“A Teacher’s Strike Is The Answer”

 Font | Size:

I am truly amazed at the extent of how DOE and the Treasury offices are handling this “no pay” for DOE employees. This is an outrage to the max. My whole family of five children and an elderly mother depend on my finances to keep on living. I demand that all teachers GO ON STRIKE.

As a doctorate student I receive no help from the DOE to assist me in paying my student bills. I depend on myself and my family. How can I do this if I do not get paid for the 80 plus 50 hours that I work every week?

DOE does not give us any supplies for the school year. Teachers buy school supplies for their students. Where does that come from? Yes, our own hard earned money, our paychecks. We are suffering and it seems like they do not really care.

I looked in my refrigerator and saw nothing but a box of chicken. I cried thinking about what am I going to feed my five children and elderly mother. I might as well feed my family with the box of chicken and go to sleep hungry. My children come first. I would rather starve than have my children starve. Even if I have to walk to the neighboring Chinese store to aitalafu food for my family to survive. This is ridiculous, I work to get paid, but have to live on aitalafu. This is madness!

What am I going to do when my bills are unpaid? I thank ASPA for helping the community in utilizing a pay later plan for all the people that cannot make their payments on time or when their supposed paychecks are not given to them. Thank you ASPA.

I would also like to thank Cable for helping out with a pay later plan, but the only hitch with them is that not only do you have to pay the outstanding bill but the new bill all at the same time. So the bill that you have to pay to get your cable back on is about $80.00 to 100.00. WOW!

Why? Why? Why? DOE:

Why have you forsaken us? What have we done to deserve such a harsh punishment? All we have done is follow all the rules that you have given us. Even though a lot of us did not like the rules, we still followed them. Because we love teaching. I love teaching. But this is how you treat us.

You told us to clock in at a certain time, to clock out at a certain time, No Child Left Behind, keep the classroom environment inviting, no increments if the teacher has more than 15 days absent, and so on and so on ...

This brings a lot of pain and anguish and I just do not want to speak any more.

A Teachers Strike is the answer to this problem.

Sincerely,

Disgruntled Teacher

How many hours do you work every day? if your hours, are 80 every two weeks and extra 50, that's almost a months pay for two weeks. That's a lot, another teacher could be employed for that amount of hours. It's amazing people are unemployed and others are taking more extra hours of work is beyond me. If you're serious about it, then set up a one on one meeting with the Director, I'm sure she'll listen to your concerned and frustrations, before calling a strike.

I hope you're going to claim those school resources you paid out of your own pocket when you do your tax return.its being going on long enough why aren't teachers go on strike? the DOE know damm well its criminal act for not paying the teachers if that was over here it will be taken up with the human right and compensate for all the lost of earnings. someone have to stand up and face the director of DOE.its your right to face the music until you all get some answers. forget about ifs and buts its not good eenough. I'm sure someone would call a meeting and discuss this situation. Get some action instead of drooling over for not getting paid

Ua lava upu, ua ono tatau fo'i ona malolo faiaoga pe afai ua fa'aletonu le ofisa. It should already be done..your dues and commitment to the children is proven as you had continued to work despite the poor leadership. DOE, the government, parents, and students need to realize the importance of teachers. All the power to the teachers. Please, no hiding...everyone go on strike! One for all, and all for one!!!!
