Mayor Langkilde-Kautz opens US Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting

First Lady Michelle Obama and US Conference of Mayors new president, Mayor Elizabeth Malae Faumuina Langkilde Kautz of Burnsville, Minnesota met during the 78th Winter Meeting of the USCM, where the nation’s mayors assembled at the Capitol Hilton to meet with the Obama Administration and Congress to advocate for a national bipartisan political agenda.

Mayor Kautz became USCM’s new president on Jan. 5, 2010.  First elected Burnsville’s Mayor in 1994, Kautz has been re-elected five times since. Mayor Kautz is the first minority woman president in the history of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

She is the daughter of Joe Langkilde and Odilla Faumuina Langkilde of Leloaloa and oldest sister of Rep. Vaito’a Hans Langkilde.
