FAIRBANKS - A local congregation will likely be without a church until the summer after a fire broke out Saturday at the First Samoan Assembly of God Church. Firefighters were called to the church at about 3:20 p.m. Saturday, as flames and heavy smoke were coming out of the east side of the building on 17th Avenue.

Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire in the rear of the building. The significant fire and heat damage appears to have been started in the loft by unattended candles.
