The Childcare Division of the Department of Human and Social Services is hosting their “I CARE” Fair tomorrow 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Samoana High School gymnasium. It is free of charge.
In a statement from DHSS Director Leilua Stevenson, it says since October is National Child Health Month, as well as the month we celebrate our children on White Sunday, the DHSS Child Care Program invites everyone to the fair.
The event aims to provide families with children ages 0-12 with an opportunity to learn more about different health and safety resources, and other related family services available throughout the community.
The “I CARE” Fair also launches the American Samoa Child Care Program’s “I CARE” campaign, designed to increase awareness about the importance of children’s health, safety and learning in daycare settings and at home or school.
Agencies that have partnered with DHSS in for tomorrow’s event include: ASCC CNR 4-H program; Department of Homeland Security; Dept. of Health Tb Control Program; Dept. of Public Safety — EMS; EMSC; Fire and Safety and Highway Safety Program; Helping Hands; Sodexho American Samoa, Inc. and The Learning Tree.
Agencies will be on hand to share information on their programs with a highlight from DPS Highway Safety — demonstration for parents on how to properly install child safety seats in your car. Thirty lucky parents will be able to get a free safety seat. The toddler or infant must be present to receive the free seat.
In the spirit of Halloween, there will be costume contest for children ages 0-5 and 6-12. Prizes will be given away for the “scariest”, “cutest” and best homemade costumes. There will be treats and jumpers for the little ones.

SPA HOSTS HARVEST CARNIVAL TOMORROW
The South Pacific Academy Parent-Teacher Organization is sponsoring their annual carnival tomorrow, Halloween, at their Tafuna campus. The event is set for 2-7 p.m.
SPA PTO member Chrissy Lutu-Sanchez says the event is being held in honor of Pu-Hee Woo, an SPA student lost during the tsunami, as well as the families who lost loved ones, homes and more in the recent disasters.
“The SPA PTO decided to go forward with this carnival and call it the Harvest carnival — in remembrance of our island community and the losses during this disaster — but an emphasis on providing a positive event for our children and families to look forward to and enjoy,” she added.
If you buy $5 worth of game tickets, you will get two game tickets free. Raffle and game tickets are on sale during drop off and pick up times.
The SPA PTO invites all to bring the kids, win prizes and enjoy the carnival.

MALIU MAI/TAP’S HOSTS HALLOWEEN BASH
Maliu Mai/Taps’ will host a Halloween Bash tomorrow night that will include a live show, door prizes, costume contest and free pupus.
Tickets are $10 and the bash starts at 7 p.m.
Live entertainment will be presented by Tap’s Band, The Island Queens— Marion Mageo, Bianca Yoshimiro, Reigning Miss Sialdn Queen Didi Afuafi and former Island Queen Princess Auva’a. There is also an “All Male Review.”

EVALANI’S CABARET HOSTS HALLOWEEN FEST
Evalani’s Cabaret in Pago Pago is hosting a Halloween Fest tomorrow night that will feature a costume contest and raffle drawings.
Everyone who pays the $3 cover charge will receive a free raffle ticket. Raffle drawings will be held every hour.

The landmark hangout in Pago, re-opened last Friday after damages from the tsunami were repaired. They will re-open for lunch Monday, Nov. 2 with their Mexican Menu, daily specials and salad bar.
